The BTA Fall Doubles League will begin Thursday September 5 and proceed for 6 Thursdays. 

Fees will remain the same as previous seasons.  $8 to pay for balls for the league.  $15 for BTA membership if you have not already paid for the year.

Format will be essentially the same.  Each court of 4 players will play 3 sets, one with each of the other players.  The player on the court with the most game wins will move up a court and the player with the least games won will move down a court.

If you want to play as a substitute let me know.  Subs are always needed to fill in when one of the regular players has to miss a week.

You can always email me if you have any questions.  If you know of others who might want to participate, spread the word.  It's always great to get connected with other tennis players in the area.

The Bartlesville Tennis Association (BTA) is planning to have a doubles league again this spring.  We will start the league on Thursday April 18 and play for six Thursday evenings.  The play will start at 6:30 pm at the Johnstone courts behind the YMCA.

The league is open to all BTA members.  Membership is $15 per person or $20 per family for the year.  There will also be an $8 league fee that will pay for provided balls.

We will need players that will plan to play regularly for the 6 weeks and substitute players that can fill in for when a regular player is unavailable for a particular week.

Let me know if you are interested in playing as a regular or substitute.  It is first come, first serve for the first 16 that want to play (4 people on each of the 4 courts).  Hope to see you on the courts!

Spring is here and it's about time for the BTA Spring Doubles League.  The league will play at 6:00 Thursday evenings starting April 20 and ending before Memorial Day (weather permitting). 

BTA membership is required ($15 individual, $20 family) and an $8 league fee that includes balls for each of the evenings.  We will follow the same format as previously.

 We also need several players to be substitutes for when a regular league player is not available.

In case you're wondering, the city has decided to build Pickleball courts at Sooner Park and will not be impeding on the Johnstone tennis courts.  If you get an opportunity, let the Parks department know you appreciate their decision.

The BTA will hold it's annual meeting at 8:15 on Saturday morning May 21st followed by a tennis mixer.

Tim Huff will become the new BTA president.  Jon Morgan has agreed to continue on as our League Coordinator and Christy Hall will carry on as Secretary-Treasurer. Charles Moll helps us with a Facebook page and Keith Naylor manages our website.

If you want to bring some fruit or finger food to get us started, please do that between 8 and 8:15. If you just want to come out and visit and/or play some tennis, we should get that started about 9:00. W

We will have this big event under the shelter by the courts behind the YMCA. We look forward to seeing you all.

We will start Thursday September 10 at the Johnstone tennis courts at 6pm.

Play will be for 6 weeks on Thursday evenings.  The format will be the same as in the past.  Cost will be $8.00 per player for the league plus BTA membership if you haven't payed for the year ($15.00 for single, $20.00 for family).  Balls will be provided.

There will be 2 mixers and a spring and fall doubles league held in 2020.

Jim Sweezy, President, informed the board of talks with the city of the possibilities for enclosing two of the four courts behind the YMCA. Some of us that also play pickleball had talked to the city about a building for that use and it eventually turned to a combined building for tennis and pickleball. During workshops for the funding of projects, the city council cut back the proposed funding to include only covering 2 courts instead of 4. There have been discussions with having the YMCA do the scheduling of that facility with input from the tennis and pickleball players. The funding for this and several other projects (parks, streets, vehicles, etc.) will be through bonds and continuation of sales tax. The vote of the citizens will be held in April.

We'll have our first tennis event this coming Saturday. It'll be a mixer where we have tennis players for you to challenge and get back in the swing for the tennis season.

We'll have drinks, snacks and an opportunity to meet up with BTA members and potential members. This would also be great time to update your membership or join if you have not done so already. If you know anyone interested in any of the above, feel free to invite them to the event. We look forward to seeing you there.
