Bartlesville Tennis Association will hold a mixer this Saturday, September 22, at the Johnstone Courts.
All area tennis enthusiasts are invited to a fun morning of tennis on August 25 from 9 a.m. until noon at the Johnstone Tennis Courts.
Sponsored by the Bartlesville Tennis Association, this free event will include both singles and doubles play. No sign-up is necessary, and light refreshments will be provided by the BTA. Anyone interested in joining BTA or signing up for fall league play should come by the courts and take advantage of this opportunity to get in some good practice. Bartlesville Tennis Association will offer lessons for children ages 6 and older the week of June 18-22, 2018 at Sooner Park tennis courts.
Beginner class will be from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. Advanced beginner/intermediate class will be from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Loaner racquets are available. Mark your calendars for next Saturday, April 14, because Bartlesville Tennis Association is kicking off the 2018 tennis season with a mixer at the Johnstone courts. Gather in between 9 a.m. and noon for light snacks and lots of tennis. This will be a good time to dust off your racket, limber up your muscles, and get in some practice before the BTA doubles league starts the following Thursday, April 19. You can also bring your BTA dues--$15 per person or $20 per family, if you haven’t already paid for this year. The BTA Spring Doubles League starts Thursday April 19th, all the spots have been filled but we can always use subs if anyone is interested. BTA held its annual meeting March 5 at Hideaway Pizza to elect 2018 officers and approve changes to the BTA By-laws.
Members attending the meeting re-elected the following officers: Bob Gaut, president; Christy Hall, treasurer; Jon Morgan, league director; Keith Naylor and Charles Moll, co-secretaries; Valerie Geerts, education/junior tennis director; and Steve Byrd , physical properties manager. By-law changes included reducing number and terms of board members in order to comply with current practices. Notification of members was also changed to include website and email notification, rather than printed newsletters and directories. A mixer is planned for April 14, with spring league play scheduled to begin April 19. More information about these events will be posted on the BTA website. BTA is open to all area tennis players. Membership dues are $15 per person or $20 per family. BTA members are invited to participate in the Michael Grismore Classic "Spirit of Life" tournament scheduled for Oct. 24-29.
The tournament will be played at Hillcrest Country Club and completed forms should be sent or taken there by Oct. 22. A copy of the form can be downloaded here. Doubles league play will start Thursday, Sept. 7, at 6 p.m. at the Johnstone Courts. Jon Morgan, league director, will send out more information to BTA members. BTA activities throughout the year include mixers, doubles leagues, ladder play, and informal pick-up games on Tuesdays and Thursday evenings.
